Groundbreaking prog guitarist Steve Hackett has announced the release of his acclaimed Acolyte To Wolflight With Genesis Revisited Tour as 2CD/2DVD deluxe package and stand-a-lone Blu-Ray and, after three London concert videos, he chose the Liverpool date for the recording. The Total Experience Live In Liverpool will be released on 24th June.

17 de junio sale lo nuevo de GOJIRA "Magma"...le tengo harta fe, me tinca que con este disco Gojira pegará el batatazo...ya vienen haciendo ruido hace rato , los tildan como la esperanza del metal...mi impresión es que pueden causar el impacto que provocó Tool cuando lanzó Aenema.

también en esa fecha sale lo nuevo de los Red Hot Chili Peppers "The Gateway" que han lanzado 3 adelantos buenos...seguir esperando que vuelvan a ser lo que sonaban en la época de la bilbia que es el Blood Sugar Sex Magik no tiene sentido...sus últimos discos están ok, pero les faltaba contundencia....es una de las bandas con las que crecí, asi que los sigo con cariño-

Ya salió a la venta Pure McCartney. Una muy extensa compilación curada por el propio músico y que abarca toda su carrera solista hasta ahora, incluyendo los álbumes con Wings y The Fireman (su alias para trabajos más underground).

Si bien no soy muy fan de las compilaciones muy largas, que agotan hasta al más acérrimo fan, es una buena alternativa para el que quiere tener una síntesis de lo mejor de su carrera, independiente del éxito comercial que haya tenido. Aparecen varias joyitas que pasan coladas por estar en álbumes poco queridos, aunque eché de menos varios tracks del "off the ground", uno de mis favoritos.

El disco tiene tres ediciones diferentes:

Estándar: 2 CD, 39 tracks

Deluxe: 4 CD. 67 tracks

Vinilo: 2 LP, 41 tracks

Waaaa.... Le faltan muchas! Incluso a la caja grandota. 

De las mas mas conocidas, extraño Rockestra Theme, My Brave Face, Off The Ground, Hope of Deliverance y Young Boy. Tambien la version "original" de Say Say Say (que asumo que Macca aun esta peleado con MJ por el tema de los derechos de las canciones de The Beatles). Igual el hombre tiene una discografia larga, pero con el listado vi que nego 5 años de su trabajo.....

Lo único que sé es que Electric Wizard lanzan nuevo disco el 31 de Octubre (Halloween, obvio).

Lo demás son solo noticias a medias:

-El sello Southern Lord anunció, a fines de Mayo por su página en Facebook, que editarán un trabajo de Sleep "no enteramente nuevo", y como si no fuera más confuso el mensaje, tampoco adelantaron fecha.

-Seawhores también avisaron por su página en Facebook algo de movimiento, pero no especificaron si se trata de nuevas presentaciones o de un disco a futuro.

-De los chilenos Yajaira se sabe que hay material nuevo, al menos ya se conocen dos temas en vivo, pero tampoco se sabe si ya están próximos a grabar un nuevo álbum.

Radical Action To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind is the title of a new multi-disc set from King Crimson scheduled for release on 2nd September. 

Taken from the 2015 tours of the UK, Canada & Japan, Radical Action represents the most comprehensive release for this incarnation of King Crimson, and will be available as a 3cd/1blu-ray set, and in a 3cd/2dvd/1blu-ray limited edition. 

Radical Action features every song and piece performed by Pat Mastelotto, Bill Rieflin, Gavin Harrison, Mel Collins, Tony Levin, Jakko Jakszyk and Robert Fripp and as Fripp commented last month while supervising mixing, “This is King Crimson… re-imagined”.

It has been stated many times that King Crimson is not so much a band as it is “a way of doing things”. Less frequently stated but equally true, is the fact that the band inevitably seeks different ways of doing things. The current incarnation of the band, 2014 – the present day, has already released two taster sets in the form of 2015’s Live at the Orpheum mini-album and the vinyl picture disc EP that accompanied the 2015 tours of Canada and Japan, while the full raw concert performance from a single night in Toronto in 2015 was presented as a 2CD set earlier this year to great acclaim.

Now, with the release of Radical Action comes the most fully realised audio and visual statement from this band to date, running to three themed CDs and a Blu-Ray disc offering the filmed content along with an audio only option in lossless high resolution stereo and surround sound.

The set includes at least one performance of every song/piece of music played by King Crimson in 2015, some pieces originally composed in 1969 the year of the band’s inception, others composed/initially performed at a variety of points since, some new to the tour, all arranged for this specific line-up. Indeed it is characteristic of this King Crimson – in direct contrast to all other post 1970s line-ups - to feature a broad range of material from the 1969 - 1974 era, performed in such a manner as to maintain much of what made the music so arresting when first issued, while arranged for fresh interpretation by the seven piece line-up of today. As Fripp put it (when asked what the title of the album meant to him): “What I like about this band is, that what it is actually doing is not what it appears to be doing...”. The idea of King Crimson re-imagined, that the music as presented is new,
irrespective of when originally composed, is the key element in this band’s makeup.

The set will be released to coincide with King Crimson’s most extensive European tour since 1974, with performances slated to include, for the first time ever, material from all seven of King Crimson’s 1969 – 1974 iconic studio albums and  with limited availability via mail order and concert venues.

Audio: Three themed CDs of material recorded in 2015, each forming a separate discrete
performance with audio selected from a variety of shows and fully mixed from multi-track tapes by Chris Porter, Robert Fripp and David Singleton. As no audience is audible between tracks, this allows for a “virtual studio album” effect. (The current King Crimson line-up was deliberately conceived as a performing band rather than as a band concerned with making full studio recordings).

Video: Among the problems most associated with filming live performance, perhaps the key problems are those of the film-makers’ cameras intruding on the audience’s capacity to enjoy the show without interruption and the intrusion of the cameras on the band’s performance. In effect, both performance and audience response must be misrepresented to approximate a live show for later consumption. In order to record the performances more accurately, a series of Japanese concerts was captured via a number of discreet cameras in a “video vérité” style – with neither band nor audience disturbed by filming – by Trevor Wilkins who also edited and assembled the footage.

Audio/Video: Two DVD discs featuring the complete concert performances. Blu-Ray features the concert film in high-resolution [24/48] stereo and 5.1 surround sound with additional ‘video off’ mode allowing for high-resolution audio only playback in stereo and surround sound.

In essence the music can be experienced in a number of different ways – as continuous uninterrupted audio on CD, as a viewable concert performance in stereo or 5.1 surround on the DVDs and  Blu-Ray, or in high-resolution, lossless audio stereo or 5.1 surround without pictures on the Blu-Ray.

This September Led Zeppelin will release The Complete BBC Sessions, an expanded and remastered version of their 1997 BBC Sessions album which adds a third disc of eight unreleased performances. This new set will be available across a number of formats, including an 8-disc super deluxe edition box set…

The original two-disc collection featured live recordings selected from the band’s appearances on BBC radio between 1969 and 1971. The eight unreleased BBC recordings including three rescued from a previously ‘lost’ session from 1969. Originally broadcast in April of that year, this session included three songs: I Can’t Quit You Baby, You Shook Me and the only recorded performance ofSunshine Woman.

Also included amongst the unheard audio are two unreleased versions of both Communication Breakdown and What Is And What Should Never Be. These performances are separated by two years, illustrating the bands’ evolution in such a short space of time

 

Jimmy Page has supervised the remastering and this new release is available as an eight-disc super deluxe edition that delivers the 33-tracks across five vinyl records and three CDs. Similar to the album super deluxe sets, this box set includes a 48-page book, a ‘high-quality’ print of the original album cover (the first 20,000 of which will be individually numbered) and a hi-res download card, providing all content at 96kHz/24 bit. It’s fair to assume that the design and dimensions will match the other box sets, making this a good companion to the rest!

You can also buy a five-LP vinyl set (good price on Amazon UK) separately (with the bonus material on the fifth LP) and a 3CD edition. The sets come with extensive session- by-session sleeve notes written by Dave Lewis, providing, for the first time, accurate details and notes about all of the band’s BBC sessions.

The Complete BBC Sessions will be released on 18 September 2016.

Apple Corps Ltd. and Universal Music Group are pleased to announce global release plans for The Beatles: Live At The Hollywood Bowl, a new album that captures the joyous exuberance of the band’s three sold-out concerts at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl in 1964 and 1965. A companion to The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years, Academy Award®-winner Ron Howard’s authorized and highly anticipated documentary feature film about the band’s early career, The Beatles: Live At The Hollywood Bowl will be released worldwide on CD and for digital download and streaming on September 9, followed by a 180-gram gatefold vinyl LP on November 18. The album includes a 24-page booklet with an essay by noted music journalist David Fricke, and its cover art features a sunny photo taken on August 22, 1964 by The Beatles’ then-U.S. tour manager, Bob Bonis, as John, Paul, George and Ringo boarded a chartered flight from Seattle Tacoma Airport to Vancouver, BC for their first concert in Canada.

Documenting The Beatles’ Hollywood Bowl concerts on tape was no easy feat, as producer Sir George Martin explained in his album notes for 1977’s The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl: “The chaos, I might almost say panic, that reigned at these concerts was unbelievable unless you were there. Only three track recording was possible; The Beatles had no ‘fold back’ speakers, so they could not hear what they were singing, and the eternal shriek from 17,000 healthy, young lungs made even a jet plane inaudible.”

While The Beatles: Live At The Hollywood Bowl references the long out of print 1977 album, it is an entirely new release, directly sourced from the original three track tapes of the concerts. To preserve the excitement of the shows while unveiling the performances in today’s best available clarity and quality, GRAMMY Award® winning producer Giles Martin and GRAMMY Award® winning engineer Sam Okell have expertly remixed and mastered the recordings at Abbey Road Studios, including the thirteen tracks from the original album produced by Giles’ father, plus four additional, previously unreleased recordings from the momentous concerts.

“A few years ago Capitol Studios called saying they’d discovered some Hollywood Bowl three track tapes in their archive,” says Giles Martin. “We transferred them and noticed an improvement over the tapes we’ve kept in the London archive. Alongside this I’d been working for some time with a team headed by technical engineer James Clarke on demix technology, the ability to remove and separate sounds from a single track. With Sam Okell, I started work on remixing the Hollywood Bowl tapes. Technology has moved on since my father worked on the material all those years ago. Now there’s improved clarity, and so the immediacy and visceral excitement can be heard like never before. My father’s words still ring true, but what we hear now is the raw energy of four lads playing together to a crowd that loved them. This is the closest you can get to being at the Hollywood Bowl at the height of Beatlemania. We hope you enjoy the show…”

No pueden superponer tomas TODO EL RATO durante la canción. Pésimo trabajo de edición.

Una lata, por que la performance es buenísima, mejor que la de Toronto 2015

 

Quizás por eso está la opción de sólo escuchar la música y poner en negro la pantalla

Ojalá salga después la edición en CDs separado

The album includes a 24-page booklet with an essay by noted music journalist David Fricke, and its cover art features a sunny photo taken on August 22, 1964 by The Beatles’ then-U.S. tour manager, Bob Bonis, as John, Paul, George and Ringo boarded a chartered flight from Seattle Tacoma Airport to Vancouver, BC for their first concert in Canada.

Documenting The Beatles’ Hollywood Bowl concerts on tape was no easy feat, as producer Sir George Martin explained in his album notes for 1977’s The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl: “The chaos, I might almost say panic, that reigned at these concerts was unbelievable unless you were there. Only three track recording was possible; The Beatles had no ‘fold back’ speakers, so they could not hear what they were singing, and the eternal shriek from 17,000 healthy, young lungs made even a jet plane inaudible.”

While The Beatles: Live At The Hollywood Bowl references the long out of print 1977 album, it is an entirely new release, directly sourced from the original three track tapes of the concerts. To preserve the excitement of the shows while unveiling the performances in today’s best available clarity and quality, GRAMMY Award® winning producer Giles Martin and GRAMMY Award® winning engineer Sam Okell have expertly remixed and mastered the recordings at Abbey Road Studios, including the thirteen tracks from the original album produced by Giles’ father, plus four additional, previously unreleased recordings from the momentous concerts.

“A few years ago Capitol Studios called saying they’d discovered some Hollywood Bowl three track tapes in their archive,” says Giles Martin. “We transferred them and noticed an improvement over the tapes we’ve kept in the London archive. Alongside this I’d been working for some time with a team headed by technical engineer James Clarke on demix technology, the ability to remove and separate sounds from a single track. With Sam Okell, I started work on remixing the Hollywood Bowl tapes. Technology has moved on since my father worked on the material all those years ago. No había retorno ni nada parecido, por lo que tocaban de memoria y no tenían idea como estaban sonando

 

Considerando todo ello, los Beatles eran excepcionales en vivo. Armonizaban perfecto las voces y tocaban muy bien

y según cuenta la leyenda, el legendario concierto en el Shea Stadium se amplificó con los propios altavoces del estadio... debió sonar como la reveranda callampa sumado a eso el griterío jajajaja.

Te compro hasta el 66 más menos, griterío, mala amplificación etc, pero después decidieron no tocar más en directo, que raro????, las pocas presentaciones en vivo para shows de TV, concierto de la azotea, no dan para decir que eran una gran banda en vivo, por ejemplo los Doors en el Hollywood Bowl o New York gira 67-68, sonaban la raja!! considerando el tamaño de la Arena vs sistema de ampli arcaico, sin embargo el fiato, la capacidad individual los lleva a otro nivel...IMHO mucho mejor The Beatles en ese ámbito.
