Originally released in 2014 on CD, The Alan Parsons Project – The Complete Albums Collection is now being made available in a beautifully packaged deluxe vinyl 11LP box set and is limited to an initial run of 1,500 copies worldwide.

It includes the 11 original studio albums including The Sicilian Defence album that they originally recorded in 1979 and was previously unreleased until 2014 when it was included within The Complete Album Collection 11CD box set.

- All albums half speed remastered at Abbey Road and cut from hi-res files transferred from the best available master tapes where analogue was originally used and from the original digital master tapes for all albums from 1983 onwards with everything approved by Alan Parsons.

- Pressed on heavyweight 180gm vinyl, and beautifully replicated sleeves including original text and imagery.

- Beautifully packaged in a ‘cigarette type’ hardback outer box with the outer design containing the words that Eric Woolfson felt best described The Alan Parsons Project.

- The first 500 copies will come with an exclusive 12-inch sized art print signed by Alan Parsons.

- Includes 60 page 12” x 12” hardback book containing full lyrics, brand new sleeve notes and essay from Miles Showell, Abbey Road Studios on the half speed remastering process.

- Also includes giant A1 size poster

The Alan Parsons Project was a progressive rock music entity comprised of engineer/ producer Alan Parsons and songwriter, musician and manager Eric Woolfson. They released 10 concept albums which focused on subject matter such as science fiction, supernatural, literary and sociological themes between 1976 – 1987 and have sold in excess of 55 million albums world-wide.

Their focus was on very high-quality studio sound production and they recorded most of their work at Abbey Road Studios in London. They used a variety of different lead vocalists and musicians on every album but did employ some relatively consistent session players such as guitarist Ian Bairnson, arranger Andrew Powell, bassist and vocalist David Paton, drummer Stuart Elliott, and vocalists Lenny Zakatek and Chris Rainbow – choosing who they felt was the best for each song rather than being constrained to moulding the material for one specific artist.

A comprehensive 4-CD + Blu-ray Audio box set celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mothers Of Invention/Hot Rats/Grand Wazoo experience from 1972. During the aftermath of being pushed off the stage at the Rainbow Theatre in London, England; FZ found himself recuperating for months in his home in Laurel Canyon. Although he was confined to a wheelchair, his work ethic could not be tamed. During this time, he managed, among other things, to assemble an ensemble that quenched his thirst and desire to work with a large “Electric Orchestra.” Ultimately, a 20-piece group was contracted, along with recording sessions and an 8-city tour. Shortly thereafter, a scaled down 10-piece configuration, now known as the “Petit Wazoo” toured for almost two months. After all was said and done, FZ finished the experiment with two albums in the can, Waka/Jawaka & The Grand Wazoo, plus two tours and an archive of show masters in his Vault. It was a monumental feat for a guy with a cast on his leg and a conductor’s baton in his hand. The Waka/Wazoo box set features a complete historical run-down of the entire project, featuring alternate takes of almost every composition recorded during the album sessions, along with Vault mix session outtakes and oddities. Also included is the full final show of the 10-piece tour, recorded at the famous Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on December 15, 1972. The Blu-ray Audio disc features both albums with brand-new, first-time-ever Atmos and 5.1 mixes from the original multi-tracks and the 96kHz 24-bit high-resolution stereo remasters. Finally, during the album recording sessions at Paramount Studios, FZ worked with George Duke on some of Duke’s solo material. These demos were produced by Zappa, who also played guitar. Although George would go on to re-record the compositions for his own albums, the versions with FZ have never been officially issued until now.

Sting Celebrates 35th Anniversary of ...Nothing Like The Sun with expanded Digital Only Edition - AVAILABLE NOW...

October 13, 2022

New Additions To The 17-Time Grammy Award Winning Artists’ Critically Acclaimed 1987 Solo Album Include 14 Bonus Tracks, 12 of Them Previously Unavailable Digitally

Today, A&M/UMe releases a digital-only 35th-Anniversary Expanded Edition of Sting’s stunning second solo album, ...Nothing Like the Sun. The album title was lovingly adopted from Shakespeare’s Sonnet No. 130 (“My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun”).

The 26-track Expanded Edition features the original 12 songs on the album plus 14 bonus tracks that consist of B-sides, remixes, alternate versions, and instrumentals (full track listing included below). Listen or purchase Sting’s ...Nothing Like the Sun – Expanded Edition HERE.

Building on the momentum of his 3x platinum debut solo album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, ...Nothing Like the Sun tackled a litany of deeply rooted and profoundly personal subjects. As Sting reflected in the liner notes, “I look back on this album, and I realize that the record is about my mother, although I didn’t see it at the time. It’s about mothers and daughters, mistresses and wives, sisters... Every song has one of these themes. It surprised me.” Sting’s mother sadly passed away in late 1986, not long before four months’ worth of intensive recording sessions for the next album got underway in earnest at AIR Studios in Montserrat in early 1987.

As a result, ...Nothing Like the Sun, which was Sting’s first digital recording, is, for the most part, a subdued and reflective album with the exception being the up-tempo lead single, “We’ll Be Together,” an instant chart hit featuring Annie Lennox among its stellar background vocalists. Other key songs on the album showcased Sting’s development as an acclaimed solo artist. The quirky, jazz-inflected “Englishman in New York” tipped its bowler to English ex-pat and expert storyteller Quentin Crisp, while “Fragile” paid homage to an American civil engineer killed in Nicaragua by the Contras. Some of the album’s subject matter was born out of what Sting became aware of while participating in Amnesty International’s Conspiracy of Hope Tour in 1986. Narrated in stirringly vivid detail, “They Dance Alone” recounts the actions Sting observed of wives and daughters of certain men in Chile who were tortured and murdered by the then-military dictatorship. These wives and daughters would dance the country’s traditional dance known as the Cueca by themselves, with only photos of their missing loved ones pinned to their clothing.

Produced by Sting, Hugh Padgham, Bryan Loren, and Neil Dorfsman, ...Nothing Like the Sun featured a variety of A-list guitarists, including former Police-mate Andy Summers on the album’s moving opening track “The Lazarus Heart,” Hiram Bullock on the heartfelt cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing,” and the triple threat of Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, and Fareed Haque on “They Dance Alone.” Another notable topline ...Nothing Like the Sun collaborators include keyboardists Gil Evans and Kenny Kirkland, saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and drummer Manu Katché. In addition to handling arrangement duties and singing all of the album’s lead vocals, Sting played bass and double bass, as well as Spanish guitar on “History Will Teach Us Nothing” and acoustic guitar on “Fragile.”

...Nothing Like the Sun has been certified 2x platinum by the RIAA, topped the album charts in two countries, the UK and Japan, and also peaked at No. 9 on the US Billboard 200. The album’s aforementioned lead single, “We’ll Be Together,” had a strong chart impact upon its release, ultimately reaching No. 7 on the US Hot 100. The album’s second single, “Be Still My Beating Heart,” was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including  Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 1989, and climbed to No. 2 on Album Rock Tracks, No. 15 on the Hot 100, and No. 37 on Adult Contemporary. The album’s other three singles were “Englishman in New York,” “Fragile,” and “They Dance Alone.” In the US, ...Nothing Like the Sun garnered three Grammy nominations in 1989, including Album of the Year. In the UK, ...Nothing Like the Sun received the BPI’s Brit Award for Best British Album of the Year in 1988.

Hailed as the best gig ever by critics and fans alike, it was a fitting celebration of an extraordinary career. Today, the revelry continues as Paul announces the release of The 7” Singles Box, featuring 80 x 7” Paul McCartney singles – including such global chart smashing tracks as 'My Love', 'Live and Let Die', 'Band on the Run', 'Silly Love Songs', 'Coming Up', 'Ebony and Ivory', 'Say Say Say', 'No More Lonely Nights', 'Wonderful Christmastime' and many more. Recognised by Guinness World Records as “the most successful songwriter of all time,” Paul’s 7” Singles Box is a remarkable testament to this accolade, featuring songs that have sound-tracked our lives and that are loved and sung around the world today.

The format of the 7” single had a profound impact and influence on Paul both as a songwriter and as a music fan. Paul recalls in his foreword that comes with this set how he still enjoys the thrill of flicking through crates in record shops looking for new discoveries and how much respect he and The Beatles had for the B-side.

Available from December 2nd, The 7” Singles Box is the ultimate package for any McCartney fan. From 1971’s 'Another Day' to a 7” version of 2022’s Record Store Day Song of the Year, 'Women and Wives' (taken from 2020’s chart-topping McCartney III) - the 80 singles included represent half a century of Paul’s life showcasing his prolific creativity and relentless innovation. An absolute treasure trove of music, the box set features recreations of 65 singles – complete with their original B-sides (using restored artwork from 11 different countries) as well as 15 singles never before released on 7”. A 3CD/Blu-Ray deluxe hardback book edition of Porcupine Tree’s classic 2005 release, Deadwing.

Released on Transmission, this is the most complete collection of the album and related material to date.

The CDs include a 2018 remaster of the album by Steven Wilson, b-sides, additional tracks, and over 70 minutes of Deadwing demos (offering a rare insight into the creative process for the album).

The blu-ray features a new 'making of' documentary (Never Stop the Car On A Drive in the Dark), the ‘Lazarus’ promo video, Deadwing remastered in 96/24 LPCM stereo, B-sides in 96/24 LPCM stereo, Deadwing album with 4 bonus tracks in 5.1 surround sound mix by Elliot Scheiner and Steven Wilson, and 77 minute Rockpalast, Germany broadcast from 2005.

The 108-page book contains an in-depth history of the band by Stephen Humphries plus rare photographs taken from Lasse Hoile and the band's personal archives.

Initial copies from Burning Shed will include an exclusive 260x180mm art print.

---------

Deadwing was Porcupine Tree's eighth studio album, first released in 2005 following their breakthrough with In Absentia, it was the second in a run of 3 albums that for many represent the pinnacle of the band's artistic achievements. It also continued their new-found commercial success to become the band's top-selling record at the time.

Based on a screenplay written by Steven Wilson and director Mike Bennion, about half of the songs were started with a view to being part of the score to a film, but when the film failed to move into the production stage, Wilson instead made them the foundation for the next PT album, with additional material written in collaboration with the other band members.

The album features guest appearances from Adrian Belew, who plays guitar solos on the title track and Halo, and Mikael Åkerfeldt who adds vocal harmonies and a guitar solo to Arriving Somewhere But Not Here.

Wishbone Ash celebrate the 50th anniversary of their classic album Argus with a 7-Disc multi-format box set.

The set includes:

3 CDs comprising Martin Turner’s Argus remaster, Live at The Alexandra Palace 1973, Live in Memphis 1972, 4 previously unreleased early version demos.

2 LPs - An original Argus replica (remastered for this release) and Argus Live (selected recordings from Alexandra Palace and Memphis).

A DVD including French and Swiss TV footage, Live from the Rainbow 1973, and an RTS Broadcast from 1974.

A 7” Single of ‘Blowin’ Free’.

A 48-page book with rare photographs and extensive liner notes featuring contributions from Andy Powell, Martin Turner and Steve Upton.

The band's ultimate statement given the deluxe treatment it richly deserves.

---------

Wishbone Ash achieved considerable success in the 1970s, during which they were among England's most popular hard rock acts, achieving an incredible eight top 40 albums. Often regarded as one of the premiere UK live acts of the 1970s, the band toured throughout this period and into the following decades.

1972 was one of rock music’s most memorable years for regal releases - a golden age of classic albums - Exile on Main Street, Machine Head, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, All the Young Dudes, Roxy Music, Can’t Buy a Thrill, Sailin’ Shoes, Foxtrot, Demons and Wizards, Transformer and Barnstorm - by rock royalty - The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Davie Bowie, Mott the Hoople, Roxy Music, Steely Dan, Little Feat, Genesis, Uriah Heep, Lou Reed and Joe Walsh. Not least among these amazing artists and records was Wishbone Ash - and their award-winning ‘Album of the Year’ - Argus.

Undoubtedly the most famous of the bands’ 1970s canon, Argus is not only the biggest selling album of WA's career - featuring the beloved fan-favourite ‘Blowin’ Free’ - but also full of memorable and timeless tunes such as ‘The King Will Come’, ‘Time Was’, ‘Warrior’ and ‘Throw Down The Sword’.

Featuring a heady blend of prog rock, folk and hard rock, Argus is widely considered a vital moment in the progression of twin-lead guitar harmonisation.

As they reigned supreme through the 1970s, Wishbone Ash was centred on inspired musicianship, joyful spirit and inventive songs. Their concerts were uplifting and their recorded work sublime. Argus remains a stunning highpoint in the band’s startling repertoire.

This is a vital addition to the Wishbone Ash catalogue.
