It is the band’s first album to sell one million copies in its first year and holds the title of being their all-time best selling studio album. Packed with concert staples and KISS Army favorites including “Detroit Rock City,” “Shout It Out Loud,” “God Of Thunder” and “Beth,” on November 19, 2021 UMe will release KISS – Destroyer 45th in the form of a Super Deluxe 4-CD + Blu-ray Audio box set as well as on standard double black vinyl and limited edition yellow and red double colored vinyl, 2-CD set, and digital. For the recording of Destroyer, Bob Ezrin was brought in as KISS’s new producer, helping the band reach new levels, both sonically and creatively. The album also showed the band’s growth as musicians and songwriters, experimenting with new sounds which came in the form of the softer side of songs like “Do You Love Me?,” and songs heavy with orchestral arrangements including “Great Expectations” and their Billboard No. 7 hit single “Beth.” Following the breakthrough success of 1975’s No. 9 Billboard charting Alive!, Destroyer was the KISS album that brought them to the forefront of the mainstream and transformed them into global rock icons. For its anniversary, UMe celebrates this seminal album’s legacy with a staggering amount of bonus material. CD 1 includes the original album newly remastered at Abbey Road Mastering, while CD 2 features 15 demos from Paul Stanley’s and Gene Simmons’s personal archives – 9 of which are unreleased. CD 3 is packed with studio outtakes, alternate versions / mixes and single edits – most notably a brand-new stripped-down mix for “Beth (Acoustic Mix),” and CD 4 contains an electrifying performance from the band’s visit to Paris France at the L’ Olympia on May 22, 1976. For the Blu-ray Audio disc, Steven Wilson was brought in to create a first-ever Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround mix of the original studio album plus 2 bonus tracks “Beth (Acoustic Mix)” and “Sweet Pain (Original Guitar Solo)” the latter featuring Ace Frehley’s original recorded guitar solo that was not released on the studio album (this track is available on the 2012 Destroyer: Resurrected project.) Additionally, the Super Deluxe box features an extravagant array of collectable KISS memorabilia and ephemera, including a complete recreation of the original KISS Army Kit with the original folder and following items: KISS Army newsletter Volume 1 – No 2 announcing Destroyer ; 2x 8”x10” Destroyer Press Photos; Discography Sheet; Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter Bio Sheet; KISS Army Member Certificate and a KISS Army Membership Card Also included in the Super Deluxe set are: KISS logo Iron-on; KISS Army Sticker; “Detroit Rock City” Bumper Sticker; Destroyer Cover Sticker; 11”x17” KISS on Westminster Bridge UK Poster; 4 brand new 8”x10” Band Member Photos; 8”x12” Destroyer Foil Flyer ; 8”x12” Destroyer Canadian Flyer (super rare); 4x Band Member Trading Cards (newly created for this boxset); 16”x24” KISS Over New York Skyline Poster; 16”x24” KISS Halloween 1976 Concert Poster; 2x 9”x12” Destroyer Tour Stage Blueprints on Transparent Vellum (never been seen before); 16-page Destroyer 1976 Tour Program and Gotham Rock City News Volume 1 Newspaper that is a track-by-track interview with all 4 band members, Bob Ezrin and crew. Also included is a 68-page hardcover book with extensive liner notes by Paul Elliott & Ken Sharp featuring interviews from Gene, Paul, Ace, Peter, then-manager Bill Aucoin, album producer Bob Ezrin, and many more about the album’s writing and production process, U.S. and European tours, photo shoots, promotional stories, band member memories from their TV appearance on The Paul Lynde Halloween Special, and an intoxicating amount of unreleased photos and imagery The entire contents are housed in a lift top- style box and features artist Ken Kelly’s original Destroyer cover art, arguably one of the most iconic album covers in rock, making this the ultimate KISS Destroyer souvenir. KISS is America’s #1 Gold Record Award winning group of all time in every category and have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Peerless as a live act, the band’s illustrious legacy is marked by record breaking global tours. Now, after an astonishing 48-year career, KISS – Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer – are currently in the midst of their ‘End Of The Road’ tour. ponkine 536 Publicado September 29, 2021 at 19:43 Autor Share Publicado September 29, 2021 at 19:43 Available on December 3rd as Limited Edition 5 Disc (Blu-ray/2DVD/2CD) Box Set with Additional Bonus Content or as Stand-Alone Blu-ray On December 3 Depeche Mode will release a newly upgraded expanded definitive box set edition of 101 documentary concert film and live album chronicling the 101st and final performance of the band's Music For The Masses world tour, recorded live at the Pasadena Rose Bowl on June 18, 1988. A groundbreaking collaborative documentary, 101 was co-directed by acclaimed husband-and-wife filmmaking team D.A. Pennebaker (Dont Look Back) and Chris Hegedus (The War Room) with active creative input from Depeche Mode, who'd held an exclusive contest for fans offering an appearance in a Depeche Mode movie as the prize. 101's narrative through-line of contest winners traveling across America to attend Depeche Mode's landmark Rose Bowl concert is a cinematic precursor to the youth culture trend in "reality tv" programming. Depeche Mode's 101 captures the electrifying synergy between the band and their fans. This new HD edition of 101: A film by D.A. Pennebaker, Chris Hegedus, David Dawkins has been meticulously upgraded using 4k scans of the original film reels to create an all-new viewing experience. The 101 Blu-ray includes three previously unseen bonus performances of "A Question of Lust," "Sacred" and "Something To Do" plus the official promotional video for "Everything Counts." Additional contents in the new, limited edition Depeche Mode 101 box set include: a 48 page behind-the-scenes story of the day photo book; a 20" x 30" replica of original US theatrical release movie poster; a 16 page Anton Corbijn Photo Mode book as featured in the original album release; a double CD of the original 20 track 101 concert release; and a Download Card providing access to 4K downloads of the film and bonus performances plus 24-bit audio files of the 101 concert release. The two DVDs in the set contain the original extras from the 2003 DVD release of Depeche Mode - 101, which are exclusive to the DVD discs. "It's incredible to be able to see D.A. Pennebaker's film and this period of our career presented in this new high-definition light," said Depeche Mode. "We were thrilled to partner with Sony Music on the digital restoration of Depeche Mode 101, definitely one of our all-time favorite films and one of our favorite filmmaking experiences," said 101 co-director Chris Hegedus. "DM 101's parallel realities following the historic tour of this pioneering British band as they storm across America bringing an exciting new sound to the masses, along with an intimate view of a bus load of ardent young fans on an unforgettable road trip to the Rose Bowl made this documentary a groundbreaking influence on the reality genre. Making this movie was a grand adventure for both of us (Pennebaker and Hegedus).... By the end of the tour, we became their biggest fans. We are excited to introduce this new release to audiences." Meet us, won't you, in St. Louis for seven complete and previously unreleased Dead concerts that capture the heart of the band's affinity for the River City. LISTEN TO THE RIVER: ST. LOUIS ’71 ’72 ’73 is a 20CD set featuring five shows from the Fox Theatre - December 9 and 10, 1971; October 17-19, 1972; and two from the Kiel Auditorium - October 29 and 30, 1973. The seven shows in the collection span slightly less than two years, but they represent some of the best shows the Grateful Dead played during some of its peak tours. The music tells the story of a band evolving, changing from one sound to another seamlessly, precipitated – in large part – by significant personnel changes in the Dead’s lineup. The two 1971 shows feature the original Grateful Dead lineup plus newcomer Keith Godchaux on piano. This version of the band would hold together for the next six months as the Dead embarked upon its Europe ’72 tour. By the time the Dead returned to the Fox Theatre less than a year later, they were without Pigpen, who’d played his final show with the Dead at the Hollywood Bowl on June 17, 1972. A year after the exceptional Fox 1972 shows, the Dead came back to St. Louis, but played the much larger Kiel Auditorium, touring behind the release of WAKE OF THE FLOOD, which came out just two weeks before. All told, the band played 60 different songs during these shows highlighted by blazing romps through “Beat It On Down The Line” and “One More Saturday Night” and wistful takes on “Row Jimmy” and “Brokedown Palace” (whose lyrics give the collection its name). Meanwhile, the copious jamming ebbed and flowed like the mighty Mississippi River on multiple voyages through “The Other One” and “Dark Star.” Naturally, the band paid tribute to one of its favorite rock and rollers and one of St. Louis’ biggest stars by playing Chuck Berry songs at every show in the collection, including Pigpen galloping through “Run Rudolph Run.” Each show has been restored and speed corrected using Plangent Processes with mastering by Jeffrey Norman. The collection comes in a slipcase with artwork by Liane Plant and features an 84-page hardbound book as well as other Dead surprises. To set the stage for the music, the liner notes provide several essays about the shows, including one by Sam Cutler, the band’s tour manager during that era, and another by Grateful Dead scholar Nicholas G. Meriwether, among others. Citar Enlace al comentario Compartir en otros sitios
ponkine 536 Publicado October 14, 2021 at 23:29 Autor Share Publicado October 14, 2021 at 23:29 https://burningshed.com/store/panegyric/robert-fripp_music-for-quiet-moments_boxset In May 2020, with much of the world in lockdown and reeling from the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, Robert Fripp began uploading the first of 52 individual Soundscapes on his YouTube channel, streaming platforms, and DGMLive. EntitledMusic For Quiet Moments and appearing once a week, these pieces created a space for reflection, offering a means of pausing from the day-to-day concerns and to provide a point of calm and perhaps, a sense of hope, in such troubled times. In the same running order as originally released, the recordings are now available presented in four sets of 2 discs each in miniature gatefold sleeves, with a 58 page booklet containing the artwork for each piece and notes by Robert Fripp. Housed in an outer rigid case. --------- By way of introduction, Fripp defined what he meant by the term, quiet moment: “Quiet moments are when we put time aside to be quiet. Sometimes quiet moments find us. Quiet may be experienced with sound, and also through sound; in a place we hold to be sacred, or maybe on a crowded subway train hurtling towards Piccadilly or Times Square. Quiet Moments of my musical life, expressed in Soundscapes, are deeply personal; yet utterly impersonal: they address the concerns we share within our common humanity." Each of the 52 pieces was drawn from Soundscapes’ performances from 2004-2009 and venues/shows as varied as those for G3 (Satriani, Vai, Fripp), to Churchscapes (as the name suggests, concerts in churches), opening act for Porcupine Tree and even appearances at ‘The Big Chill’ festival. These pieces are contemplative for the most part and range from a few minutes in length to a performance of ‘Elegy’ in Nashville that lasts over 44 minutes. Each week this music became a gentle word-of-mouth success, as listeners eagerly awaited and discussed the weekly selections, with many encountering Soundscapes for the first time, marking their first contact with Fripp’s music as a result of the series. While the series was not instigated with the idea of it being anything other than a weekly sequence of digital audio releases, when assembled and played back at a point when the series approached its end and all of the material had been selected, it became apparent that the series worked well as a single, distinct, body of work CD ONE 1 - Pastorale (Mendoza 3 Jun 2007) 2 - GentleScape (Barcelona 24 Jul 2009) 3 - Time Stands Still (Pershore 2 Jun 2006) 4 - Requiem (Norwich 6 Jun 2006) 5 - Time Promenade (Date and Venue Unknown) 6 - Seascape (Lichtenvoorde 13 Jun 2004) CD TWO 7 - At The End Of Time (Broad Chalke 14 Jan 2006) 8 - Evensong (Sutton 3 Jun 2006) 9 - Promenade (Newlyn 3 Dec 2005) 10 - Pastorale (Boston 6 Nov 2007) 11 - Skyscape (Chicago 12 Oct 2005) 12 - Seascape (Chicago 12 Oct 2005) 13 - Horizon (Carrboro 21 Feb 2006) 14 - Time Procession (Carrboro 21 Feb 2006) CD THREE 15 - Affirmation (Atlanta 25 Feb 2006) 16 - Aspiration (Atlanta 25 Feb 2006) 17 - Elegy (Rome 20 Jun 2006) 18 - End Of Time (Barcelona 25 Jul 2009) 19 - Evensong (Barcelona 29 Jul 2009) 20 - Pastorale (Madison 10 Nov 2007) 21 - Paradise Regained (Oslo 20 Jun 2004) CD FOUR 22 - Elegy Pt1 (Rome 20 Jun 2006) 23 - Elegy Pt2 (Rome 20 Jun 2006) 24 - Elegy Pt3 (Rome 20 Jun 2006) 25 - Paradise Regained (Gothenburg 15 Jun 2004) 26 - Evensong (Haapsalu 24 Aug 2006) 27 - Pastorale (Mendoza 2 Jun 2007) 28 - Time Stands Still (Udine 24 Jun 2006) 29 - A Full Heart (Paris 13 Oct 2009) CD FIVE 30 - Strong Quiet I (Brussels 14 Oct 2009) 31 - Strong Quiet II (Brussels 14 Oct 2009) 32 - A Move Inside I (Asheville 28 Feb 2006) 33 - A Move Inside II (Asheville 28 Feb 2006) 34 - A Move Inside III (Asheville 28 Feb 2006) 35 - Drifting Gently (Chattanooga 27 Feb 2006) 36 - Drifting Firmly (Chattanooga 27 Feb 2006) CD SIX 37 - Time (Amsterdam 12 Oct 2009) 38 - Elegy Pt I (Hannover 15 Oct 2009) 39 - Elegy Pt II (Hannover 15 Oct 2009) 40 - Doubt (Greenville 23 Feb 2006) 41 - Consolation (Milan 29 Jun 2006) 42 - Glisten (La Spezia 28 Jun 2006) 43 - Reflection (La Spezia 28 Jun 2006) 44 - Shimmer (La Spezia 28 Jun 2006) CD SEVEN 45 - Elegy (Paris 22 Sep 2015) CD EIGHT 46 - Elegy (Nashville 1 Mar 2006) 47 - Evocation (Nashville 1 Mar 2006) 48 - A Point In Time (Rome 21 Jun 2007) 49 - Time Calls (Charlotte 22 Feb 2006) 50 - Time Present (Buenos Aires 9 Jun 2007) 51 - Opening (Nashville 17 Apr 2004) 52 - Time And Time Again (Mendoza 2 Jun 2007) Citar Enlace al comentario Compartir en otros sitios
ponkine 536 Publicado October 14, 2021 at 23:30 Autor Share Publicado October 14, 2021 at 23:30 https://burningshed.com/king-crimson_music-is-our-friend_2cd Featuring fresh perspectives on classic material recorded during a tour that took place despite almost insurmountable issues, Music Is Our Friend is an official bootleg featuring all of King Crimson’s stunning final performance in North America at Washington DC in September, 2021 plus four pieces from KC’s intimate 'Friends and Family' first concert of the tour’s second leg in Albany. 2CD in jewel case with 24-page booklet featuring photos from the concerts, sleeve notes byDavid Singleton and diary entries for the concert days from Robert Fripp. 'A completion is a new beginning.’ - Robert Fripp, September, 2021 --------- Music Is Our Friend - named after the tour from which the performances were taken - is an official bootleg featuring all of King Crimson’s final performance in North America at Washington in September, 2021. The 2CD set is completed with four pieces from the first concert of the tour’s second leg in Albany. Taken together, these tracks represent both a beginning and an end of a tour that took place despite almost insurmountable issues. Originally scheduled for 2020, postponed for a full year because of the pandemic, the tour began July in Florida as the latest Covid wave hit and the band moved across the country in a tour bus bubble. Following a two-week break due to scheduling conflicts, they returned to the road again, with the Zappa Band appearing nightly before Crimson. Now facing gigs that had to be moved due to extreme weather, with one venue flooded a day before a concert, an open-air venue in New York transferred to the more familiar Beacon Theatre, and even a band member flown to hospital via helicopter, King Crimson faced a range of challenging conditions. Happily, the band member was fully recovered and no gigs were missed despite the array of setbacks and obstacles. By the time King Crimson reached Washington, the band was in ferocious form with a powerful, energetic set with some arrangements reworked and differing from previous tours. Featuring a restored middle section of ‘Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Part One’ that had not been played since 1973, substantial keyboard arrangements, Tony Levin on upright bass during ‘Neurotica’ giving the piece an extra swing, there’s an emotional set-closer, Starless and an immensely powerful ‘21st Century Schizoid Man’ as an encore. King Crimson completed their tour in style and to much acclaim from fans and critics alike. As Robert Fripp notes in his diary entry included in the notes: “David (Singleton, KC manager/producer), pointed out that the very first piece KC played in the US, at Godard College, Montpelier, Vermont on October 29th. 1969, was the same piece as completed KC’s 52 years – 21CSM”. In contrast to the Washington show, the four performances from the ‘Friends and Family’ concert in late August 2021 at The Egg in Albany, opening show of the second leg of the tour and the same venue where the current band played its first US gig in 2014, have a more intimate feel. As befits a small venue/invited audience, the sound and pacing provide an opportunity to hear a run of material not played in Washington due to time constraints. Bringing the second disc with a poignant performance of ‘Islands’ – perhaps the best recording of this song by this band, David Singleton, who also prepared all the audio for this release, thought it one of the best sets the band played on this or previous tours CD One 1. Juanzuniga 1.070 Publicado October 15, 2021 at 20:36 Share Publicado October 15, 2021 at 20:36 PINK FLOYD 'A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON' REMIXED & UPDATED – RELEASED 29TH OCTOBER Remixed and updated from the original 1987 master tapes for The Later Years by Andy Jackson with David Gilmour, assisted by Damon Iddins, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason will be available on Vinyl, CD, DVD, Blu-ray and digitally with Stereo and 5.1 mixes and can be pre-ordered here. In addition, for the first time, the album will be presented in 360 Reality Audio, a new immersive music experience that closely mimics the omni-directional soundscape of live musical performance for the listener using Sony's object-based 360 Spatial Sound technologies. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason will also be released in Dolby Audio and UHD in addition to 360 Reality Audio, all of which will continue with other Pink Floyd releases. The release of The Later Years project in 2019 gave an opportunity for a fresh overview of the album, originally released in 1987. By returning to some of Richard Wright's original keyboard takes, and by re-recording new drum tracks with Nick Mason, producers David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin have restored a better creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members. David Gilmour "Some years after we had recorded the album, we came to the conclusion that we should update it to make it more timeless, featuring more of the traditional instruments that we liked and that we were more used to playing. This was something we thought it would benefit from. We also looked for and found some previously unused keyboard parts of Rick's which helped us to come up with a new vibe, a new feeling for the album." David reflects on originally recording the album: "Bob Ezrin had worked on 'The Wall' with us back in '79 and on some solo albums with me. I learnt a lot from Bob and he's a valuable person to have on board. We started working on pieces of music that I had been writing and, come Christmas, we knew it was going well. One day, I felt this 'thing' coming on me that became Sorrow. I wrote five verses one evening. They just flowed out from nowhere in one of those great serendipitous moments that you recognize later as having been very valuable... I knew that we were on a good roll and that this thing was going to work". Nick Mason "Initially it seemed a bit odd to start re-assembling a record after 35-odd years, but the public's appetite for alternate views of the same work has undoubtedly increased immeasurably over time. "Inevitably the opportunity to revisit earlier work from a period where digital technology was the brave new world became increasingly interesting. "There's little doubt of the advantages in being able to find new elements within the music, or more often uncovering elements that became overwhelmed with all that new science... I think there is an element of taking the album back in time and taking the opportunity to create a slightly more open sound – utilising some of the things we had learned from playing so much of the album live over two massive tours. "I enjoyed re-recording drum tracks with unlimited studio time. Momentary Lapse had been recorded under considerable stress and time constraints, and indeed some of the final mixing was done at the same time as rehearsals for the forthcoming tour. "It was also nice to have an opportunity to enhance some of Rick's work. Again, that positive tidal wave of technology just might have provided too many digital opportunities to overwhelm the band feel. Hopefully, that's one of the benefits of this remix!" The remixed and updated A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album also features a new album cover using an alternative beds photo by Robert Dowling from the original album cover shoot directed by the late Storm Thorgerson. Echoing the iconic original sleeve the 2021 album artwork is designed and art directed by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis and Peter Curzon/StormStudios. Aubrey Powell explained, "I was looking to update the iconic five hundred beds picture my partner in Hipgnosis, Storm Thorgerson, had designed. On looking through the archives I discovered a version where the sea was encroaching on the set, just before Storm shut down the shot, worried he would lose all the beds. I also wanted to make something more of the microlight. There were no shots of the plane in close-up, so I hunted one down that was similar but white, and had Peter Curzon retouch the fuselage with the right colouring – red – then strip the microlight into the picture in an upfront position. David Gilmour and Nick Mason gave their approval and, voilà, a fresh approach to an original favourite". The album will be available as single CD, CD +DVD set, CD + Blu-Ray set, 2 x 180gm LP set, the latter cut at half-speed at 45rpm for enhanced sound quality, with pre-orders from 2 September. A special version of the video Learning To Fly is available simultaneously with Sony 360RA immersive audio: if you watch the video on YouTube with headphones you experience simulated 360RA sound. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason 360 Reality Audio, Dolby Audio and UHD versions will be available via multiple Digital Service Providers on 19 October.
